With 27 bedrooms and dining for up to 70 guests in the Tudor Hall, this enchanting wedding venue offers an irresistible combination of historic charm, English elegance and breath-taking beauty. Thornbury Castle is a unique wedding location for couples seeking modern comforts within a traditional and historical castle. You can hire the castle for the day, the weekend or the week to enjoy a truly fabulous celebration and in addition, hiring the castle exclusively allows you to build a marquee in the grounds for weddings up to 200 guests.
Planned for Perfection were recently asked to design a beautiful styled shoot to showcase the timeless elegance of the 500-year-old property, which boasts unique character inside and out. Together with a team of prestigious UK wedding suppliers, we created an inspirational enchanting wedding full of the regal charm of the ancient castle. Driving into the castle grounds, you feel like you are stepping onto the set of a period drama - The Tudors meets Downton Abbey, with a Bridgertonesque feel! It is the epitome of historic England and a real hidden gem of a wedding venue, where you can escape the outside world, with all the luxuries of modern day.
Ceremonies can be held at the beautiful church next door to the castle and the castle rooms are licensed for ceremonies. Alternatively, you can marry in the award-winning gardens or say I do in front of the gates to the majestic venue, which we dressed in cascading florals from Love Flowers. The Tudor Hall was decorated with a rich and bold colour palette of burgundy and blush, with sumptuous full-blown roses and seasonal blooms, magically lit by candlelight. Long tables were draped with coloured linen, adorned with gold tableware and the stationery included a unique wedding day monogram for the couples day inspired by the original castle crest.
The bride wore a dress from Ellie Sanderson with an optional shawl (with fabulous pockets!), which was perfect for an outdoor ceremony or a winter wedding & the groom brought a touch of Hollywood glamour to the castle in a Black tie dinner suit hired from Regency groom in Cheltenham.
