VOW FOR GIRLS

Earlier this year, we were approached by our supplier friend Lucy Live Event Artist who asked if we would consider working with her on a charity shoot for VOW, for girls. We had heard so much about this amazing charity and didn’t hesitate in helping to create awareness of it . Lucy had a clear vision - a fun filled tea party for girls, where they would play and simply enjoy the carefree afternoon of fun and laughter, with delicious cakes from the Queen of cakes, Elizabeths Cake Emporium

Working in the wedding industry as an international wedding and party planner for fifteen years and having raised a strong, fearless, independent and beautiful daughter, I knew that VOW for girls was the perfect charity to support; helping to allow girls globally to reach their individual potential and finally put an end to child marriage.

Designing an afternoon of fun with Paula Rooney floral designer, we decided that the colours for the tea party, like the girls had to be bright, bold and fearless. Inspired by VOW’s website and incorporating the charities branding into the event, we used bright colours, including yellow, orange, pink, coral and blue for a fabulous childrens party. Collaborating with Bubblegum Balloons, Paula also styled a balloon wall backdrop for our independent & carefree young girls, with tableware from Whitehouse Event Crockery linen from Just 4 Linen & stationery from Intricate Creations The girls hair & makeup was styled by Lisa Griffiths and Julie West and they were dressed in party dresses by Shimmering Ivory and Little Bevan London

After the tea party, the girls couldn’t just leave… we had to end the day showcasing that literally and metaphorically the girls can fly, they can explore our world and they can do anything, see anything, be anything they want to be…. Thank you to Amosphere hot air balloons for the balloon ride!

VOW for Girls is a global charity that has partnered with wedding industry to end the international child marriage. Each year, 12 million girls are married before they turn 18. VOW’s mission is to end child marriage and for us to live on a world where no child is ever a bride, because every girl has a right to love on her own terms.  This shoot was all about celebrating… celebrating girls, their childhood, their potential, their endless possibilities and the numerous opportunities for young girls. What better way to celebrate, than with a fun, bright, vibrant, and energetic tea party, for some gorgeous young girls with the world at their feet.

LUCY LIVE EVENT ARTIST

“A wonderful team of talented, high-end wedding suppliers came together because they feel passionate about promoting the charity VOW for Girls, a worthy cause. Working in this wonderful industry we are very aware that sadly, weddings aren’t always a joyful experience in other parts of the world and we want to spread the word and tell other wedding professionals and couples about the very important work VOW does and encourage everyone to get involved.”|

PLANNED FOR PERFECTION WEDDING PLANNER

“When Lucy asked me to be involved in this charity shoot for VOW, I didn’t hesitate to say yes – VOW for girls is an incredible charity aiming to end child marriage and support young girls to be able to lead a life that they deserve. What better way to celebrate with young girls than with a bright, vibrant, energetic tea party full of fun and laughter? The celebration culminated with a ride in a hot air balloon, allowing the girls to fly away, to explore the world, a world where anything and everything is possible and where girls can be whoever and whatever they want to be.”

ELIZABETHS CAKE EMPORIUM

“It was a pleasure to work on this project with the best wedding suppliers in the industry. Seven cakes were created for this project, all with different flavours. The individual cakes, in different designs and shoot colours, were made for each girl to celebrate their common girlhood, their different personalities and individuality. We must set a good example for our girls by believing in them and their dreams, which are limitless in their potential”.

PAULA ROONEY FLORAL DESIGNER

“The VOW’s website inspired the colours for the shoot to incorporate their charity branding into the event. We added yellow, orange and pink to the bold coral and blue colours for a vivacious party, for independent young girls with the world at their feet.”

SHIMMERING IVORY

“Layla wore a bespoke dress for this photoshoot. The origami butterfly emulated the butterfly logo of Vow for Girls, and the feather design of the skirt was made using poly chiffon and poly organdie made from 100% RPET. RPET means that these fabrics are made from 100% recycled plastic bottles. The blue volume fabric worn by Emily was also created using sustainable fabric”.
