Christmas has arrived at The Langley Hotel in Buckinghamshire courtesy of Paula Rooney Floral Designer and earlier this month, we joined Paula and her team to add some festive sparkle to the five star hotel and set up for an intimate pre-Christmas soirée in their impressive private wine cellar.

Located just a short drive from central London, in the heart of Langley Park, the hotel reopened its doors for the festive season and is looking simply stunning! The prestigious hotel is the former hunting lodge of the third Duke of Marlborough and has been luxuriously transformed into an exquisite country house. The hotel has 41 bedrooms and with rooms split between the main house and the Brew House, it’s the perfect venue to hire exclusively for a luxury wedding. The Winter garden seats 80 guests and it is the most gorgeous location for stylish couples looking for a exclusive country retreat for a lavish wedding celebration.

As soon as you step through the doors of The Langley, you are welcomed home by a friendly team, including the unobtrusive and friendly concierge, who look after your every whim. The breath taking reception looks prettier than ever this year, with its cascading floral garland arrangement and 15 foot Christmas tree, perfectly placed, wrapped by the spiral staircase. Within seconds of arriving, you literally relax and feel totally spoilt; whether you are staying for romantic night away or to celebrate a special occasion, The Langley is a hidden gem!

Afternoon Tea

The Lake Room can be hired exclusively for private dining and with views of the outdoor pool and beautiful gardens, it was the perfect room to choose for a private Afternoon Tea. Individual tables were set up and guests can enjoy delicate finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam, sweet pastries and dainty slices of delicious cake.

Pre-Dinner Drinks

Where better to start an evening of celebrations than in The Churchill Bar, where they serve the most delicious cocktails - Salted Caramel Expresso Martini & The last Tango were on the menu, and of course, no party would be complete without Veuve Clicquot Champagne! The bar was dressed for Christmas to compliment the bold, dark blue walls and leather studded furniture, including cigar shaped Dried Babala to imitate the impressive range of rare cigars stored in a custom-made humidor.

An Intimate Dinner

With strict COVID-19 restrictions in place, intimate pre-Christmas celebrations are the only option for 2020. The hotels wine cellar can be hired exclusively for up to 10 guests and was simply perfect for a celebration for 8. The traditional festive colour palette of decadent dark red teamed with striking gold and platinum tableware created an opulent, yet understated festive table scape with deep red linen napkins from 88 Events paired with gold tableware from White House Event Crockery including their Savannah charger plates, Simone stoneware plate, Orla cutlery & Cara glassware. Each place setting had individual menus and place cards designed by Ananya Cards. The exposed brick work in the cellar and the soft candle light made for cosy atmospheric dining room, hidden away from other hotel guests.

Gingerbread house

Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a gingerbread house, so with a nod to tradition and her very own own unique twist, Elizabeth’s cake Emporium designed a jewel incrusted ginger bread house cake. A custom designed brightly coloured statement cake for a festive celebration is always a show stopper from Elizabeth and these colours were simply perfect for this evening of festive fun.

Unfortunately the hotel was recently placed in to tier 4, so has had closed its doors for 2020. We look forward to returning next year and are thankful to Catherine Bradley for taking some incredible images of the hotel looking so elegantly festive… very much looking forward to next Christmas, when this madness will hopefully be a distant memory…
