London Wedding at The Lanesborough

Intimate London Wedding

As experienced wedding planners, we know that the average couple spend 12 - 18 months planning a wedding, but there was nothing average about our bride and groom, who contacted us just nine days before their wedding celebrations, which were booked to take place at The Old Marylebone Town Hall on 8th May 2021!

Initially planned for earlier in the year, our clients had no option but to postpone their January wedding due to the national lockdown. They chose to reschedule their wedding day for Spring, 2021, but with so much uncertainty and lack of clarification surrounding weddings in the UK, they thought it would be best to elope on the day with just two witnesses… however, they had a change of heart one evening and decided that they needed a wedding planner to plan their intimate London wedding.

When our bride-to-be called us, she had only booked her photographer - Daria Photography , who had been recommended to her by a colleague. With so much more left to do, including finding the perfect London wedding venue, she booked our full planning, style and design service and it was all systems go to bring together an A-team of suppliers for their wedding, in less than two weeks.

We arranged show-rounds at a selection of luxury London wedding venues, ones that could accommodate fifteen guests outside (in line with the government guidelines in place at the time) and also ones that were under cover, as we can never rely on the great British Spring weather! The couple chose the stunning Presidential Suite Terrace at The Lanesborough Hotel, which is the perfect outside space for a micro wedding or an intimate celebration. The Lanesborough is one of Londons most prestigious hotels, with an outstanding reputation for delicious food and impeccable service. It is always a pleasure to work with the team here and we have fond memories of an incredible evening that we planned or International floral designer Karen Tran

During the week before the wedding, we enlisted the assistance of some of our trusted wedding suppliers and worked tirelessly with them to bring everything together for the couple. It was fabulous to be planning a wedding again, after over a year of uncertainty and numerous postponements. Each and every supplier excelled themselves, to ensure the perfect day for G & T, who we cannot name or share images of, due to signing a Non-Disclosure Agreement.

Cream, white and blush pink were chosen as the colour palette for the day, the perfect colour scheme for a timeless and elegant luxury City wedding. London florist WildAbout designed a chic, luxurious hand tied dome of pale pink sweet avalanche roses, bound with ivory stain ribbon with pearl detailing to compliment the brides beautiful wedding dress, one of dozens ordered from ASOS during the week leading up to the wedding! The groom wore a Hugo Boss suit with a sweet avalanche rose buttonhole backed with a sprig of scented rosemary.

We stayed at The Lanesborough the night before the wedding so that we were on site bright and early to set up. The bride was looked after by international Hair & Make up artist Gemma Sutton and enjoyed a relaxed morning getting ready in the Presidential Suite, before being taken to the ceremony by Wedding cars UK.

The bride and groom enjoyed an intimate ceremony in The Westminster Room at Old Marylebone Town Hall, in front of thirteen of their closest family and friends. Blue Topaz string quartet played throughout the service, before guests left for lunch at The Lanesborough.

Greeted with Champagne on arrival, guests headed straight to the terrance, where individual plated canapes were served (again due to strict government guideline, tray service was not possible) The beautiful shades of blush pink seen in the bridal flowers decorated the Presidential Suite, which guests had to walk through to reach the terrace. The opulent designs were a mixture of blush tones accented with gold and white details, which extended to the elegant dining table, where additional soft pinks, white and cream florals were added.

Crisp white linen cloths covered the table for fifteen VIP guests , teamed with gold chairs hired from Options Great Hire. The pretty pink florals were teamed the Lanesborough’s cut crystal wine glasses and on each place setting, we placed a heart-shaped box of delectable Charbonnel et Walkers Champagne Truffles, the colour of which, matched the pink place cards by wedding stationers, Babooche, with individual guest names written in gold Calligraphy.

Tall antique gold stands were adourned with beautiful Spring flowers, including hydrangeas, peonies, roses, stocks, lizianthus, wax flowers and complementing foliage, created a cloud of flowers above the guests. An eclectic mix of cut glass and gold pots were placed along the centre of the table to compliment the tall arrangements. Delicate sweet peas and scented hyacinths were added to the tablescape and nestled amongst the flowers were gold candlesticks of varying heights with blush pink taper candles and gold t-lights.

As always, Elizabeths Cake Emporium designed the most perfect wedding cake. Delicate handmade blush pink sugar flowers wrapped around three tiers of heavenly chocolate cake and the couples initials written in gold on the middle tier.

This lovely family embraced the intimacy of a small wedding and made the day a real celebration of the couple, their nearest and dearest and their gorgeous little boy. Thank you to them for reminding us all that , despite a global pandemic, love is most definitely not cancelled, intimate weddings are incredibly special and weddings are on their way back!
